Island Park July 4
July 4th was this week. We had originally planned for the whole family to spend the week at the cabin, but Kim ended up going to Seattle with the younger kids to drop off Tanner to attend scout camp in Seattle with the Woolfs, so it was just Heidi, Scott, and I to the cabin.
While there, I wanted to:
- Spend time with Scott, Heidi, mom and dad
- Climb Jefferson Peak from the cabin
- Ride a gravel loop around Island Park Reservoir (which I mapped out last time we were there but didn't have time for)
- Watch the fireworks at Lakeside
- Go shooting
- Attend the playhouse theater
I got all that in, plus a bonus...Kim and the kids came back from Seattle a day early via Island Park, so we got to spend the day together, do some shooting with Ian, and go boating with the whole family.
For me, it was the perfect vacation!
| I started Saturday morning with a gravel ride that included running antelope and lounging cattle. |

| Saturday morning ended early with a flat. Mom and Heidi picked me up. |
Saturday afternoon, we went to "Singing in the Rain" at the Playhouse theater in West Yellowstone. I had never been to the Playhouse before -- it is pretty small time, but surprisingly entertaining and we had a good time. We had dinner at the Buckaroo Bill's BBQ.

Sunday we went to church and hung out at the cabin.
Monday I got up early and rode up Sawtelle, then ran up Jefferson.
While I was climbing, Scott and Heidi went fishing with Grandad on the warm river, with some success. They let most of them go, but Scott brought home a whitefish, which we ate. We've always called those a trash fish, but it wasn't bad.
Monday afternoon we went shooting, but then when the family decided to drive from Seattle to Island Park Monday evening, we went shooting again Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday morning I managed to get my gravel loop in. It was a great route with lots of gravel, a little pavement, a few miles of singletrack, no traffic or crowds, and beautiful scenery -- classic Idaho.
After shooting, we went boating. Somehow, we haven't been out boating much the last few years, but we had a great time!

In the evening, Kim, Melissa, and Heidi drove home so they could make play practice Wednesday morning, while the rest of us went to the fireworks.
Consequently, Scott, Ian, Crista, Kaitlyn, and I got up at 4:30 am on Wed and drove home.
Friday was the last day of the Fenome office in SLC.
Yesterday I was supposed to ride in the Crusher, but I wasn't feeling great Friday, Kim was obviously tired, and it seemed like we needed a day at home, so I just rode up Butterfield Canyon, worked on some projects, did some furniture shopping with Kim, and went to a wedding reception.
