Timp Rejection

I thought I was going to ride up to the Timpooneke campground and then run up Timp yesterday, but it was not to be. The ride up the canyon went well, and the running started great, but trekking poles and microspikes were not enough gear (at least not for me) given the whole mountain is still snow covered, and steeper than I had expected. I was also dressed too lightly with no jacket or pants -- just my tri shorts. So I climbed in the snow till I got cold and felt it was too steep, and then turned around. It also turned out I was off-track anyway, so I wasn't even headed in the right direction. Still, it was a great trip.

I hiked up this snow-field for about an hour, but got too steep and turned out to be the wrong direction anyway.

In the evening, we went to the smash-up derby. While not the most sophisticated of entertainment, it was indeed fun.
