Deer Valley

Weather this morning looked bad, but we all drove up to DV just the same. When I got there it was still raining and COLD (fresh snow a couple hundred feet up). Neither Reed nor I thought we'd race, so we went for a walk up the first climb and conditions seemed OK. By the end of our walk we had changed our minds, so we both registered and quickly warmed up.

Turned out the trails were great, the weather not too cold (although I did wear a jacket), and no rain or snow. I felt quite good at the start, but had decided to start at the back since I hadn't really warmed up, but this turned out to be a mistake. I felt better than I expected. So I never got an open-throttle downhill during the race as I'd always catch and follow someone, but that's just how it goes if you are not a fast starter. Gotta work on that.

I was again out-sprinted at the line. I thought I was far enough ahead and didn't see him coming. Gotta work on that, too.

Reed took 3rd in Expert -- awesome.

Sorry, boring entry, fun race.
