Gearing up

My training was back in gear this week. Not overly-aggressive, but a solid week according to plan, despite some sub-freezing rides.

The kids and I went to Brighton yesterday evening. Night skiing takes on a whole new meaning this time of year -- especially this year after tomorrow with the daylight savings switch. Everyone stayed warm and happy. We had a ball skiing and then enjoyed hot cocoa sitting on the tailgate of the car after everyone had tired out.

Today I rode up American Fork canyon to the snow-machine parking lot. It was lightly snowing off and on in the canyon, and I had to go around rather than over Suncrest on the way home to avoid a squall, but I successfully avoided any kind of drenching. AF canyon was quiet with almost no traffic, and the road is barely two lanes. I wondered how long it has been since Little and Big Cottonwood canyons have felt like that.
