VR aint R

My ride this morning wasn't interesting to talk about - 2x20 threshold off road climbing in the backyard after 1 hr warm-up. It was, however, a great ride. It was a nice morning with perfect temps and fun music on the MP3 player.

Maybe the experience would be captured by a better author, but I doubt it. I could take a picture, but it'd just look like another picture of the valley.

Many times while biking or skiing the tumblers fall into place and jackpot. Maybe its the view, maybe the weather, maybe all the above. Occasionally the search for these moments can be taken too far (a guy crashed his paraglider behind the house yesterday) but it needn't be so.

My
dad spent the past weekend at the Larry Miller Sports Park watching the LeMans races, looking at the cars, etc. He came back here in the evening on Saturday and, while looking at some race info on the internet, commented, "You know, you can look at the pictures on the internet, but without the speed, the noise, and the atmosphere, it just doesn't capture it."

Jim Rogers mentioned in his book that he felt the Taj Mahal and the Ayers Rock (in Australia) should never be photographed because the pictures don't do the real items any justice.
Of course they have been photographed. I looked them up on the internet and I guess looked cool, but I wouldn't call my internet search a memorable experience. Sometime I'll just have to go see them, I guess.
