Spring
When I think of a mechanical spring, I sometimes think of Wile E Coyote bouncing up and down, one minute in ecstacy, next crashing down.
Spring can be like that with the weather. Rain, snow, and perfect weather, we've had it all in just this week!
For those who try to follow a carefully periodized, every workout day planned training schedule, it is the worst time of year because planning in impossible. Inside? Well, looks like it might be better weather outside this afternoon...or tomorrow. Maybe easy today and hard tomorrow instead. MTB? Oh, it is snowing, now what?
I don't follow that kind of plan anyway, so it is fine for me except on the days when I put off riding in the AM, hoping for better weather in the PM, and then get busy and can't get to my training that day.
Friday was nice because I got up and rode to work early. I enjoy rolling into work, feeling good with 3 hrs into my legs, and watching most of the others drive into work, bags still under their eyes. Half are toting a coffee to try and wake up, the other half toting their refillable 64oz diet coke, for the same purpose (no, the Latter doesn't quite make sense to me on this).
Yesterday the weather was perfect, and I got out for shorter than I would have liked, but rode hard for 2 hrs behind the house. PB by almost 20 seconds on my 'now just over 9 minute' downhill back there (score for the new Scalpel!) Didn't do as well on the 'soon to be 5 minute' climb, but still just 15 seconds off my PB.
